Welcome to Cask8
Hockey, 2003!
This is the
3rd year that members of Cask8 have become involved in an organized hockey
league. The league is run by Northwest Sports Entertainment, the proprietors of
the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, the home of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
This has been a year of a shortened schedule and a team of new faces.
Sean, Greg, Seth, and Brad have joined the ranks as this year's new blood.
Some of the regulars have been sidlined or limited due to prior engagements
or injuries.
Jeremie is back but due to an early season broken wrist he lost
his wicked slap shot! Broken wrist? No matter, he's there every week in the
heat of the battle. Jerry, Jason, and an occasional Marty are also back along
with our Stonewall goalie. Joe, who in years past has been a defensive horseman
in front of Stonewall has been sidelined and has yet to see action due to an
emergency apendectomy. We all hope Joe makes a safe return to the rink soon.
Even with all of our new additions we've been battling for the win
every night only to suffer a slew of 1 and 2 goal defeats, but in the
final five games of the season we turned things around. 3 of our last 5
games were victories, including one victory by forfeit. We earned the
other two wins with hard fighting and stifling defense. We look to improve
on our successful finish in the next season!
